Paying COS the Right COST
The first time I step my bared foot in the University of Rizal System, it is not on my personal choice to be with this institution knowing the mere fact that I supposed to study my Bachelors degree in Mass Communication major in Journalism in one of the most prestigious university here in our country, but that dream never came true.
The first time I step my bared foot in the University of Rizal System, it is not on my personal choice to be with this institution knowing the mere fact that I supposed to study my Bachelors degree in Mass Communication major in Journalism in one of the most prestigious university here in our country, but that dream never came true.
Never in my mind until I was challenge by faith to took the course BS Political Science in URS-Angono and latter transfer to URS-Morong Campus knowing that the soon to be abolished course was to be relocate in the College of Science where I took first Bachelor of Science major in Psychology then later shift again into BS Guidance and Counseling.
Yes, it was just like a roller coaster ride stating the history of where I am now. From a simple dreamer to a simple believer, this is what the College of Science had taught me 3 years ago. (not that old exactly).
When a colleague fed me a news about writing a bulletin article in a publication where I came from, I don’t hesitate to volunteer and text the present editor-in-chief that, “I am willing to contribute a column article.”
And then she replied, “Sure, why not? For a former editor-in-chief?” that reply really made me laugh a bit while I am browsing the laptop and looking at the sketch of an editorial cartoon also passed by a closed friend who wishes to quit in University Student Government and gave his focal attention in the development of our beloved college: the COLLEGE OF SCIENCE.
And here comes the new GOAL: a join force for a better COS!
I will never be ashamed of that I came from the most dynamic college in my times about three years ago. It is in our penultimate year, that THE ESSENCE Publication brings so much pride and honor not only for the college but for the whole university.
Winning in the regional and Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference makes the year 2007 for THE ESSENCE Publication upon being conferred as national winner for Best in Development Communication Page highlighting the college projects in extension services and community participation.
That recognition doesn’t end in an awarded pillar of achievement, as the college faculty and staff continue to mold COS students who are caliber and well-trained in terms of leadership, publication and any student participation.
As a former student leader in the college, I am glad to say that the passion of the College of Science Mission and Vision continuously grows even I graduated and after I comeback less than a year ago that I bid farewell.
Truly, I really miss working with my co-student leaders leading the COS Student Body, BGP, Arts and Letters, SMS, BIOSA, COM.ORG., COSAA, Math Circle and hopefully I didn’t forgot any student organization I had worked with during my college days, because above all of these, it’s THE ESSENCE publication that really enhanced not only my writing abilities but also my leadership potentials as a student leader.
Now that I am no longer a student, I asked myself how I could possibly move forward in helping my former organizations to lead effectively.
The College of Science has a lot of potential leaders waiting to be discovered. There are a lot of students waiting to be trained and given a time to shine. Now, for a pool of student leaders waiting to be unleashed at their best it is now the time for every COS students to join hand in making a difference for the college status quos.If we are really craving for change, I am heading all the student leaders in the college not as the former editor-in-chief of this publication again shouting for change using my mighty pen and paper. As a proud alumnus of this college, I am encouraging every student in this college to take their part as a student in bringing out what is the best and what is right for our beloved academe.
Let us pay COS the right COST!
